Why Do We Need Your Help?
Our team's operating expenses are now increasing annually, as we expand our freshman classes (to seventeen last year) and our regular international engagements. We travel each weekend to tournaments across New England, and several times per term to Canadian and overseas tournaments. Although we raise a small sum from running tournaments for high school and college students, we still struggle to meet the substantial costs of travel and registration for the tournaments we attend. We also engage in substantial charity work and service, much of it funded by the benevolence of our alumni. Each April, we host the free Osterweis tournament for nearly two hundred Connecticut high school students; our members also offer free debate coaching to local New Haven high school students via the Urban Debate League throughout the year.
