Registration

Follow these steps to register:

(1) Download the registration form by clicking here (Microsoft Word format).

(2) Fill out the form on your computer.

(3) Save the completed form as "Registration [school name]"

(4) Send the form as an attachment to an e-mail to osterweis@gmail.com. Enter in the subject line "Registration [school name]".

Deadline:

Please register as soon as possible, since we can only accomodate a limited number of teams. This year's Osterweis high school debate tournament will take place on Sunday, April 10. The registration deadline will be Monday, March 28th. The late registration deadline is Friday, April 1st. We encourage you to register early since we cannot guarantee spots to teams that register late. We will send each school a confirmation email by April 2nd. When registering, please send us a prioritized list of three teams. The first team will be confirmed, while the second and third teams will be allowed on a rolling basis depending on the number of schools wishing to attend the tournament. While we would like to accept all teams, we try to extend the opportunity of debating at Osterweis to as many schools as possible. We would like to apologize in advance for any inconvenience.

What if my school has an uneven number of students who would like to attend?

We can assign hybrid partnerships between schools. Simply enter the unpaired student on the registration form and we will confirm registration by April 9th. Of course, we recommend first seeking another debater from your school.

What if I have more than three teams?

As Osterweis grows, we're excited by the growing enthusiasm for debate demonstrated by increasing demand; unfortunately, a large tournament strains our staff and facilities. As a consequence, we must place caps on attendance to ensure that all competitors enjoy a quality debating experience. Do not plan on these additional students being able to compete.

I'm a student without an adult advisor.

We prefer that you find a faculty member at your school to advise you. However, you can still attend without an advisor. On the registration form, for Advisor Contact Information, simply include the phone number of your high school or a teacher who knows you are attending.
